This Tuesday during the earnings release for Amazon, Jeff Bezos announced he would be stepping down from the CEO position for Amazon.

Jeff Bezos left his prior employment and moved to Seattle to start his new concept company from a desire to participate in the internet business boom. As the founder of the firm back in 1994, Jeff Bezos originally operated the company out of his garage and the site, amazon.com, sold its first book in 1995.

Fast forward to today and Amazon has about 1.3 million employees and historically high sales last quarter. Not too shabby for a company that started with selling books. Please note this is not an endorsement of the company stock in any way, and just a quick shout out to someone who chased his dream, had the guts to go for it, put in the hours, and stayed with it. I’ve always been a fan of the entrepreneurial spirit.

It will be interesting to see where Jeff Bezos decides to put his energy going forward. Maybe to the moon…

Job well done!! Congrats!!
